Matt Dusk came to Waterloo to headline the Waterloo Jazz Festival, 2022.  I reached out and asked if I could photograph him with the goal of creating a drawn portrait and he graciously agreed.  The photo shoot was "back stage" of the venue, which meant in the parking lot.  The sun was waning and I was desperate to get a nice shot to work from.  I was hoping to shoot B&W film, but the light levels were too low.  I managed to get several good pictures, thanks to the excellent posing by Matt.

This piece was done with charcoal on an aluminum panel.  I applied a few layers of gesso first.   Working on a panel was a learning curve.  It turned out well, so I'll try this again in the future.
